Refund policy
How payments, cancellations and refunds work for boat rentals booked through Regatta Connect.
When you are charged
Requesting a boat does not charge your card. Your card on file is charged only when the boat owner accepts your request, for the listed rental price of each event you requested. Your payment goes directly to the boat owner through Stripe; Regatta Connect keeps a 10% service fee and never holds your rental funds.
Requests that are declined
If the owner declines your request, or does not respond, nothing is charged.
Withdrawing a request
You can withdraw a pending request at any time from My Rentals before the owner responds, at no cost.
Cancellation by the boat owner
A boat owner may cancel an accepted rental up until the start of the regatta. If that happens you receive a full refund of everything you were charged for that rental, returned to the card you paid with. Refunds are issued immediately through Stripe and typically appear on your statement within 5–10 business days, depending on your card issuer. We will also email you so you can look for another boat.
Cancellation by the renter after acceptance
Once an owner has accepted your request and your card has been charged, the rental is confirmed and is not refundable through Regatta Connect. The owner has set that event aside for you and may have turned down other renters. If your plans change, contact the boat owner directly — they can cancel the rental from their side, which triggers a full refund to you.
Problems with a rental
If the boat was not made available as agreed, or there is another dispute about a rental, contact us within 7 days of the regatta. We will review the booking with both parties and may issue a full or partial refund where appropriate.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The version published on this page at the time your request is accepted applies to that rental.
